(26-27) Cheer Coach - St. James Public Schools - ISD#840 St. James Public Schools Stipend: $2,317 Season: Fall Purpose To instruct cheerleaders in skills and game-day performance to support athletic teams and represent the school. To promote leadership, school spirit, teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and self-confidence. Summary The Head Cheer Coach oversees all aspects of the cheer program, including training, sideline and competition preparation (if applicable), and performance at athletic events. The coach ensures adherence to school, conference, and MSHSL policies and serves as a positive representative of St. James Public Schools. The Head Cheer Coach reports directly to the High School Activities Director. Essential Responsibilities Direct and manage the full cheer program. Teach cheer techniques including stunting, tumbling, motions, chants, and crowd engagement. Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times. Build positive team culture and school spirit. Maintain discipline in a consistent and supportive manner. Plan and conduct organized practices and event preparation. Coordinate cheer participation at games, pep fests, and school events. Utilize assistant coaches effectively (if applicable). Manage uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Follow district budget policies. Develop and support feeder cheer opportunities when applicable. Assist Activities Director with scheduling and staffing. Evaluate assistant coaches (if applicable). Maintain strong communication with students, families, and school staff. Establish and communicate a clear program philosophy focused on spirit and leadership. Keep stakeholders informed of expectations, schedules, and updates. Provide regular communication to the Activities Director. Ensure compliance with MSHSL, conference, and district guidelines. Plan and facilitate post-season recognition activities.
