Responsibilities: Teach Spanish language and culture to K-8 students. Incorporate Spanish culture into class activities. Infuse the Minnesota primary and intermediate graduation standards for foreign language into the ongoing curriculum. Develop cultural curriculum materials and instrcutional strategies for elementary students. Incorporate hands-on learning activities into daily instruction. Communicate often with parents regarding the program goals, classroom activities, and student progress. Provide a safe classroom environment for students. Collaborate with grade-level teams, administrator, and other staff to ensure the success of students. Preferred: Native proficiency in reading and writing in the Spanish and English Languages. Successful elementary or middle school teaching experience. Ability to implement creative and innovative teaching strategies. Good organizational skills. Flexibility relating to student and program needs. Effective oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English. Work cooperatively with parents as educational partners. Commitment to the philosophy that all children can learn. Commitment to teamwork within an educational setting. Ability to write curriculum appropriate to student levels.
