This position follows the district calendar, but will include summer hours for 5 weeks in July-August. The hours for this position are Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30pm- 8pm with 1/2 hour of prep each day (approximately 6 hours per week). Approximately 75 days per calendar year. This teacher will teach all GED subject areas including Math, Social Studies, Reasoning, Science-according to set curriculum. Preference is for the instructor to be bilingual in Spanish. Essential Functions: Align instruction to meet students goals and needs Use data of NRS assessments (TABE and CASAS), other platform assessments to make focused plans and instruction for students Assign study materials to each individual based on their goals and plan Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles Build relationships with students and find ways to motivate each individual to reach their full potential Keep accurate records and student attendance Participate in staff meetings, instructional collaborative time, & professional development Manage classroom and open learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students Maintain levels of training criteria established by MN Department of Education Minimum Requirements: Strong computer skills with knowledge of online learning Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and work well with others Ability to assume initiative in problem solving Excellent organizational skills Excellent record keeping skills Ability to manage time and responsibilities Demonstrated history of racial equity work and focus on increasing racial awareness Bachelor Degree in Education and current Minnesota Teaching License (a district-sponsored Tier 1 License may be obtainable) Preferred Education and Experience: Fluent in Spanish Experience teaching adult diploma subjects, GED, HiSET, and college preparation courses Teaching License Compensation and Benefits: Pay rate for licensed teachers is $38.06 per hour State of the Art Fitness Center open to staff 1:1 Technology for staff use Work-life balance culture Ongoing professional development opportunities Numerous before/after school and summer programming for additional income and/or volunteering opportunities.
