As a PSA, you will provide direct support to students who need extra assistance to thrive in a recreational setting. You will work closely with lead teachers and program supervisors to foster an environment of acceptance, safety, and fun for all children. Key Responsibilities Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students with diverse needs to help them engage in activities like arts and crafts, sports, and field trips. Activity Adaptation: Modify and adapt daily games and lessons so every child can participate at their own level. Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior support strategies and follow individualized behavior or health plans as directed. Personal Care: Assist students with daily living needs, which may include feeding, hygiene, or mobility assistance. Safety & Supervision: Maintain a safe, clean environment and provide active supervision during transitions, lunch, and outdoor play. Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with parents, leads, and other childcare staff. Qualifications Experience: Previous experience working with children with special needs in a childcare, camp, or educational setting, and currently employed as a PSA in the ISD200 school district Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; background in Special Education, Psychology, or Social Work is a plus. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm and objective under pressure. Physical Requirements: Ability to be active (standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs) throughout the day.
