Crookston Public Schools Location: Highland Elementary School Position Type: Part-Time (6.5 hours per day, School Year Schedule) Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable and team-oriented Assistant Cook to support daily kitchen operations in our elementary school. This role assists the Head Cook in preparing and serving nutritious meals while helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and contributing to a positive experience for students. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation and service of daily breakfast and lunch meals Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including dishwashing and sanitation Support food receiving, storage, and inventory tasks Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations Assist with accommodating student dietary needs and food allergies Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and school personnel Qualifications: Previous food service or cooking experience preferred Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to follow directions and work efficiently Strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light to moderate lifting Willingness to obtain ServSafe certification if required Schedule & Benefits: 6.5 hours per day, following the school calendar Paid holidays Paid sick leave and personal leave Health insurance benefits available Eligible for Minnesota PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) retirement benefits How to Apply: Please submit your application and any relevant experience or certifications to Emily Scheresky, Food Service Director at 218-281-5600 or email emilyscheresky@isd593.org .
