Leadership Oversight Serves as a member of the District Special Education CORE Team Collaborates with district staff to develop and refine core beliefs and shape the mission of special education services Contributes to the establishment of a Comprehensive System of Personnel Development Supports the development of district-wide goals for special education programming Assists in establishing procedural guidance for the provision of special education services across the district Leads and facilitates staff training on current issues, including data analysis and instructional best practices Organizes and facilitates school-based meetings, including special education department meetings Provides ongoing resources, guidance, and support to special education team members Engages in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and mediation as needed Delivers consistent, actionable feedback to the special education team Ensures timely and clear communication of directives, expectations, and professional learning opportunities Supports Building Emergency Response Team (BERT) as assigned Liaison Between School and District Administration Participates as an active contributor in district-level meetings Distributes, interprets, and contextualizes district information and learning resources for school teams Maintains consistent and effective communication through technological platforms, including email Provides input to help shape meeting agendas and priorities Connects staff with external supports and resources as needed Due Process and Compliance Coaches staff in best practices for developing student evaluations, IEPs, and other due process documentation Ensures compliance with all due process requirements, including timelines Attends IEP and evaluation meetings as needed to provide support Collaborates with staff to monitor and uphold procedural integrity and legal compliance School-Level Special Education Leadership Actively participates in staff meetings, school initiatives, and building activities Ensures representation of special education staff on key teams, including Staff Development Committee and C-SIP Engages in student referral and review processes Collaborates with the Principal to determine representation on Child Study Teams Serves on school and district committees as appropriate Provides consultation during behavioral crises Coordinates the use of assigned spaces and identifies needs in collaboration with the Principal Supports special education budget planning and management Promotes collaboration between special education and general education teams Oversight of Special Education Paraprofessionals Participates in hiring and supervises paraprofessionals in collaboration with the Principal and Assistant Director Supports scheduling and problem-solving related to paraprofessional assignments Assists the administrative team with performance evaluations Ensures ongoing professional development for paraprofessionals Addresses paraprofessional concerns and supports workplace effectiveness Identifies and recommends resources in collaboration with case managers Staffing and Resource Management Demonstrates understanding of staffing processes and supports implementation at the school and district levels Collaborates with building leadership to manage substitute coverage Supports case manager assignments and scheduling Oversees field trip planning and coordination Participates in interviewing and hiring special education teachers and related service providers Advocates for the special education department within the school, district, and community Program Development and Implementation Assists building administration team with management of state and federal assessments for students with an IEP needing accommodation Ensures alignment of evidence-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices with district standards Facilitates analysis of student outcome data to drive continuous improvement and address achievement gaps Supports effective student transitions across grade levels and buildings through planning and coordination Ensures transition programming is implemented with clarity and consistency Supports Extended School Year (ESY) planning and implementation Family Engagement and Communication Facilitates family engagement opportunities, including informational meetings and parent events Supports case managers in responding to parent concerns as needed Serves as a school representative or designee to assist in resolving complex or sensitive issues Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) Attends all SEAC meetings Presents information as directed by the Assistant Director POSITION: Special Education Facilitator DATES/HOURS: 1.0 FTE LOCATION: Valley View Middle School START DATE: August 24, 2026 LICENSURE REQUIREMENT(S): Special Education teaching license issued through the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). RATE OF PAY: The 2026-2027 starting salary range for this position is $52,926 to $124,444. Salary offers will consider the candidate''s experience, education, skills, and the school district''s budget. Experienced candidates should expect a salary offer around the midpoint of the salary range. In exceptional cases, salaries exceeding the midpoint may be offered to attract candidates for hard-to-fill positions or those with specialized skills. Such decisions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. All employees participate in the state''s pension program, the Teachers Retirement Association (TRA).
