Job Title: Guide - Adolescent Community Reports To: Executive Director
Oak Hill Montessori Community School is seeking a licensed Communication Arts and Literature teacher to join the dedicated faculty of our Montessori Adolescent Program. OHMCS is seeking someone with a passion for language arts and interdisciplinary teaching who is excited to deepen our adolescents'' experiences, and who possesses the skills and abilities necessary to implement our school’s Mission.

About Oak Hill Montessori Community School: OHMCS opened as a new Charter School in the Fall of 2021, offering authentic Montessori education to children 16 months to 8th Grade.

General Summary of Position: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, with typical on-site hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, M-F, throughout the 10 month school year. The guide’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Experience in 7th and 8th grade math, science, health (and possibly physical education)
Help to prepare and maintain the Montessori Adolescent environments, 36 young adolescents, aged 11 - 14.
In close collaboration with our experienced faculty, implement and refine the curriculum, and travel opportunities in a way that is consistent with Montessori theory, as promulgated by AMI.
Utilize observation, reflection and refinement of work to best support the adolescent’s independent activity through preparing developmentally appropriate and engaging activities
Partner with students, teachers and parents to nurture and assess student development in all areas (social, emotional, cognitive, physical & moral) through in person check-ins, conferences and written reports
Model integrity, curiosity, and respect
Attend staff meetings and trainings, as required
Help to craft and participate in parent education events
Follows MN state standards when implementing/designing curriculum
Creating progress reports mid-semester and grade reports at the end of each semester
Extracurricular responsibilities: chaperoning 8th grade trip to Washington D.C., prep/attend conferences, Spoken Word night, Winter Solstice, Pumpkin Festival, Plant Sale
Desired Qualifications:
Licensed either in math or science with the ability to teach both
Have Montessori Adolescent training and 2+ years teaching experience at the Montessori Upper Elementary or Adolescent level
Familiarity with Google Suite including Google Classroom
AMI "Orientation to Adolescent Studies" certification or interest in completing certification
Bachelor’s degree with Math, Science, Health or education specialization
Thrive as a member of a deeply collaborative team and a dedicated whole school staff serving students who are 16 months - 14 years old
Personal passion for guiding adolescent students
Have a caring disposition and respect for the developmental needs of young adolescents and their parents
Have classroom/group management skills that promote an engaging learning environment for all
Supports students'' successful academic and social development
Excellent communication skills
Interest in experiential learning and flexibility to participate in educational travel
Excellent communication skills
Valid MN Driver''s license
Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with other charter schools of similar scope and size, and with the experience and qualifications of the candidate selected for the position.
