ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Out of School Time (OST) Manager serves as a steward of possibility, designing and cultivating experiences that extend learning beyond the boundaries of the traditional school day. This role exists not simply to manage programs, but to shape an ecosystem where curiosity is nurtured, joy in learning is reignited, and growth becomes a shared responsibility among staff, scholars, and families. In doing so, the OST Manager advances HOPE''s vision of a true Culture of Learning, one where educators feel inspired in their purpose, scholars are deeply engaged in their own intellectual journeys, and families experience a genuine sense of belonging within the school community.
Through the intentional design of after-school programs, field experiences, cultural enrichment, and athletics, the OST Manager ensures that learning is not confined to classrooms, but lived, explored, and experienced. These opportunities are not supplemental, they are essential pathways through which scholars develop critical thinking, expand their worldview, and discover their identities. This leader is charged with creating spaces that spark wonder, cultivate discipline, and honor the diverse experiences of the community for the hopes of increasing academic achievement and outcomes.
Ultimately, the OST Manager builds more than programs, they help construct enduring experiences that shape how scholars see themselves and their place in the world. The impact of this work extends far beyond retention; it is about enriching lives, strengthening community, and planting the seeds for lifelong learning, academic growth and wisdom.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Program Design & Implementation. Develop and oversee a comprehensive Out of School Time program, including after-school programming, summer learning, field trips, cultural enrichment, and sports. These are programming that aligns with HOPE''s mission to cultivate a growth mindset and expand scholars'' analytical thinking and real-world exposure. Most importantly, to ensure programming is engaging, culturally responsive, and reflective of the interests and needs of scholars and families.
Management and Leadership. Manage, coach, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of staff that will administer and execute day to day out of school programming - tutors, teachers, athletic coordinator, and other staff.
Student and Family Relations. Build and cultivate relations with scholars and families with the intent to recruit students to HOPE, to HOPE''s programs, and drive attendance and impact in how these programs impact overall academic success.
Family & Community Engagement. Partner with scholars and families to identify enrichment opportunities that reflect their needs, interests, and aspirations, this includes building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, cultural institutions, and local providers to expand programming offerings.
Program Quality & Continuous Improvement. Establish clear goals, metrics, and evaluation systems to assess program effectiveness and scholar academic impact, including guidelines for student engagement. Collect and analyze feedback from students, families, and staff to continuously improve offerings.
Operations & Logistics. Oversee program and sports scheduling, transportation, budgeting, and resource allocation for all OST programs including field trips, sports, programming, summer school and after school.
Strategic Growth. Lead the vision for making HOPE''s enrichment programming competitive, innovative, and highly sought after and Identify opportunities to expand programming based on trends, family demand, and student interests.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelors in education or related field is required. A teacher''s license is required for this role as the OST Manager will be designing and leading all summer school and after school programming.
- 5 years of experience working with families and communities in education, nonprofit, or social service settings. Preference will be given to those with experiences in the classroom.
- Candidate must know the FASTBridge assessment tools including their intervention strategies and solutions.
- Experience with EDUClimber, Infinite Campus or similar data and student information platforms strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse populations
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and holistic family support.
- Experience with Hmong language programs, bilingual education, or multilingual learner programming preferred.
- Ability to partner with teachers and provide coaching and support to teachers regarding student behavior.
- Ability to do home visits and build relationships with families, students, and the community.
- Deep commitment to educational equity, cultural responsiveness, and HOPE''s mission and strategic priorities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and community-engagement skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with scholars, families, and staff of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties are performed in a school environment; school building is a multi-level building that has an elevator and is accessible. May involve movement throughout the building to support scholars in classrooms, common areas, hallways, and offices. Possible exposure to loud environments (e.g., hallways during passing periods, cafeteria, gymnasium). Some evening hours may be required for school events, family engagement activities, and cultural programs.
