Belle Plaine Public Schools is seeking a Psychology Intern for the 2026-2027 school year!
Job Summary
The School Psychologist Intern will provide services to students in both the regular and special education settings, under the supervision of the designated School Psychologist to experience a variety of school settings and age group service opportunities from transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade. The School Psych Intern will be given a reasonable assessment caseload with opportunities across all domains.
Under the immediate supervision of the designated School Psychologist, the School Psychologist Intern experience will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other staff, and follow-up as needed
- Program development
- Provide individual and group services or counseling to children that is goal driven and emphasizes improved educational performance and/or conduct
- Conducts mental health of other applicable screening and analyzes data
- Child welfare and other outside agency consultation
- Completion of applicable IEP forms as necessary
- Interagency collaboration
- Participation in regularly scheduled supervision
- Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings, discuss special education eligibility, and provide for educational program recommendations
- Submit records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently within pre-determined timelines
- Participate as a member of the IEP team, contributing evaluation findings and collaborating with all members of the team to develop education plans
- Counsel students, and design behavior support plans with teachers; assist in crisis management
- Participate in SST meetings
- 504 Plan development and implementation
- Maintain appropriate data on students, including present levels of performance and intervention strategies
- All other duties as assigned by supervising School Psychologist or Director of Special Services
Requirements / Qualifications
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited school psychologist internship program.
- Experience with delivering school psychology services during prior fieldwork placement(s)
- Demonstrate competence in communicating effectively with children and parents, staff members and representatives of other agencies
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- National certification (NCSP) preferred
- Background check required upon hiring
- Required Documents: Application, Resume, Official/Un-Official Transcripts, 2-3 Letters of Recommendation
