Job Description:
Provide an enriching learning environment that is in alignment with the academic vision of the school, honors the skills and assets students bring to the classroom, and is culturally-affirming for the families and community we serve. Work collaboratively with the administration & cultural community to engage students through school curriculum, & the arts.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Prepare lesson plans and conduct daily classroom instruction in Arabic language at an appropriate instructional level.
Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in both the classroom as well as instructional.
Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment.
Demonstrate effective use of Arabic Language usage and etiquettes.
Observe and evaluate student’s to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement.
Provide feedback to parents on a student’s progress at conferences and other meetings.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director & Instructional Coach.
Participate in the development of curricular standards and benchmarks.
Be a resource to the school and community in Arabic language and culture.
Employment Logistics:
Star of the North Academy elementary students’ school day is from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Thursday and 9:00am-12:00pm on Friday.
Staff must be present from 8:00 am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday, or until all duties are completed for the next day.
Professional development sessions are held every Friday from 1:00 – 3:00pm
All Staff are expected to attend and participate in all family events at the school.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Minnesota teaching license in content area (or ability to gain before start date)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with colleagues, students, and families
A commitment to racial equity and social justice
