Job Title: Library Media & Technology Specialist (K?8) Reports To: Principal Entity: Saint John''s School of Little Canada Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt ________________________________ I. Mission & Purpose The Library Media & Technology Specialist supports the school?s mission by providing students and staff with the skills and resources to become effective users of ideas and information. The specialist fosters a Christ-centered environment that promotes a love of reading while equipping students with 21st-century technical skills. II. Instructional Responsibilities The specialist will design and deliver a K?8 curriculum that includes: Computer Science & Coding: Introduce foundational coding concepts appropriate for each grade level. Keyboarding & Typing: Implement and track progress in typing programs to ensure students reach grade-appropriate WPM (words per minute) targets. Software Proficiency: Teach the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for academic projects and data management. Information Literacy: Instruct students on how to conduct research, cite sources, and evaluate digital information for credibility. III. Library & Media Management Collection Development: Select, purchase, and catalog books and digital resources that align with both the curriculum and Catholic values. Circulation: Manage the checking in/out of materials and maintain an organized, welcoming physical library space. Literacy Promotion: Organize book fairs, reading challenges, and "Book Talks" to encourage a lifelong reading habit. V. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor?s Degree in Education, Library Science, or Educational Technology. Certification: Valid State Teaching License with a Library Media or Computer Science endorsement. (Preferred) Faith: A practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred; must be committed to witnessing the Gospel and supporting the teachings of the Catholic Church.
