Description:
The Director of Teaching and Learning provides executive leadership and strategic vision for the district''s educational programs. In alignment with our district strategic framework, this role is responsible for the systemic development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based instructional practices across all sites. The Director ensures that curriculum resources and instructional methods are aligned with state standards and district-wide achievement goals to prepare all Farmington Area Public Schools students for future success. As a member of the Superintendent''s cabinet, the Director oversees the district''s academic health through rigorous assessment, professional development, and the supervision of key instructional leadership staff.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Valid Minnesota Administrative Licensure as a Superintendent or K-12 Principal required.
- Experience: Ten or more years of experience in education preferred, including experience in a significant curriculum & instruction and/or district-level leadership role.
- Education: Master''s or Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
Skills: Proven ability to lead large-scale change management and strategic planning.
* Deep understanding of 21st-century skills and technology-driven pedagogy.
*Exceptional communication skills for presenting to the School Board and community stakeholders.
* Strong expertise in E-12 program alignment and professional development.

Responsibilities:
District Policy & Strategy: Assist the Superintendent in reviewing and recommending revisions to school district policies and attend all Board meetings to report on academic progress and learning initiatives. Compliance & Reporting: Coordinate the collection of data and filing of official administrative reports for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and other federal agencies. Career Pathways: Support and lead the continued development of our elementary and secondary school programs, including career pathways, to ensure college and career readiness for all students. State/Federal Programs: Ensure the administration and compliance of all State & Federal programs for general education.
Literacy & Numeracy: Lead strategic initiatives to ensure continued growth in reading, writing, and numeracy districtwide, utilizing data-driven interventions and evidence-based instructional alignment. Instructional Practices: Lead the development and districtwide implementation of identified instructional practices to ensure high-quality learning across every classroom for each learner. Curriculum Review: Provide executive leadership for the planning, organizing, and implementation of comprehensive district curriculum resource reviews. Resource Approval: Finalize and approve the selection of instructional materials and textbooks, including the negotiation of purchasing agreements, resulting from the review process.
Data Analysis and Integration: Collaborate around the administration of the district-wide assessment program, utilization of the district''s data management warehouse, and the high-level reporting of assessment data. Digital Integration: Collaborate around the effective use of technology by both staff and students to enhance learning outcomes and operational efficiency.
Specialized Programs: Supervise the administration of the English Learner (EL) program, Gifted/Talented services, and early entrance testing programs to ensure curriculum and instructional practices provide equitable access and outcomes for all students. Oversight of the Translation & Interpretation Services, and creation of District Language Access Plan
