Position Opening: Band/Choir Director (Grades 5-12)
2026-2027 School Year
Glenville-Emmons Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Band/Choir Director to lead and grow our music program for students in grades 5-12 for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about music education, values student growth, and is committed to building a positive and engaging learning environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Teach band and choir classes for students in grades 5-12.
- Develop and implement engaging music curriculum aligned with Minnesota state standards.
- Direct instrumental and vocal ensembles for concerts, contests, and school/community performances.
- Foster student musicianship, creativity, teamwork, and confidence.
- Organize and supervise performances, rehearsals, and related events.
- Maintain music equipment, instruments, uniforms, and music library.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and school activities.
- Encourage recruitment and retention of students in the music program.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Instrumental and/or Vocal Music.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
- Knowledge of instrumental and vocal pedagogy across middle and high school grade levels.
- Previous directing and teaching experience preferred but not required.
