Environmental Education Coordinator (Preschool - Grade 8)
Oak Hill Montessori Community School is seeking an Environmental Education Coordinator who possesses the skills and experience to teach in a Montessori setting and the abilities necessary to implement our school’s Mission. The Environmental Education Coordinator is responsible for creating learning goals for children that support our inquiry and nature based developmental program for children with an emphasis on the outdoor environment.

About Oak Hill Montessori Community School
Building on a rich, 60-year legacy, Oak Hill Montessori transitioned to a Public Charter School in 2021 to increase accessibility of an authentic Montessori education. We serve children 16 months through 8th grade with our lower school being tuition based, and upper school being tuition-free.
General Summary of Position
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, with typical on-site hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, M-F, throughout the 10 month school year. The Environmental Education Coordinator''s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Present environmental learning to students and provide guidance for classrooms to continue exploration
Help develop resources in the content area of Environmental Education
Assist with designing and developing professional development activities for colleagues Facilitate a plan for Earth
Week activities with assistance of a temporary committee
Promote Environmental Education throughout the campus
Provide collaboration and leadership support with classroom teaching staff to develop and write innovative curriculum and projects based on children’s interests, inquiries, investigations and experiences in nature and the Nature Preschool environments.
Utilize teaching tools of observation, documentation, discussion and planning daily for individual children’s goals and small group learning communities.
Lead daily Nature Specialist classes for all Casa level classrooms
Develop and lead after school Nature Based programming
Assess children’s developmental learning and progress through observation, documentation, writing, letters, work samples, photographs, and videos through an individual portfolio collection.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota licensure in teaching
Montessori certificate preferred
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Proven leadership/ teaching experience.
Desired Qualifications:
At least two years working with children in a preschool setting, particularly in outdoor or forest school environments.
Strong knowledge of local natural history, ecology, and nature-based learning principles.
Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Consideration for an increase in minimum salary may be given for those with extensive Montessori lead teacher experience. PTO, Medical, dental, short and long term disability insurance & life insurance (covered by school). 40% tuition remission, and pension through the Teacher’s Retirement Association (TRA) 7.7% mandatory employee contribution, with employer contribution 8.75%.
