Position Summary: The K-12 Assistant Director of Special Services provides leadership and support for district-wide special education programming and services. This position promotes the educational development of students with disabilities and collaborates with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to ensure high-quality, compliant, and student-centered programming across all grade levels. Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, the Assistant Director shares responsibility for leadership and oversight of special education programs and services, instructional supervision, staff evaluation and support, program development, due process compliance, interagency collaboration, and operational management. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills while fostering inclusive practices and positive outcomes for students. Position Qualifications: - Valid Minnesota Director of Special Education license required - Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license is required - Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience required - A Master?s degree in Special Education or a related field is preferred - Three or more years of experience working with special education students and programs is preferred - Administrative or leadership experience in special education settings is preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities: - Strong knowledge of state and federal special education laws, procedures, and due process requirements - Knowledge of special education programming, instructional practices, and compliance systems - Ability to analyze data and use information to support decision-making and continuous improvement - Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills - Demonstrated ability to lead teams, facilitate difficult conversations, and resolve conflict effectively - Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners - Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices - Proficiency with technology and data management systems Schedule: Full-time 46-week contract Rate of Pay: D-7-1 // $102,232 - $151,923 depending on the candidate''s experience, qualification, and education. Rate of Pay: D-7-1 // $102,232 - $151,923 depending on the candidate''s experience, qualification, and education.
