Position: Accountant Reports to: Director of Finance and Operations Position Overview The Accountant reports to the Director of Finance and Operations and is responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entries and audit preparation. Primary Responsibilities Prepares journal entries and ensures month end closing is completed within timelines given Reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting Coordinates with development office to ensure gifts are accurately counted Ensures facility rental deposits and revenue are recorded appropriately Coordinates work papers and reconciliations for annual audit Manages accounts payable and company credit cards Prepares and distributes 1099s Manages student meal plans and lunch accounts Prepares bank deposits Records and posts all bank transactions Ensures account receivable payments are timely and accurately posted Initial contact for collection of overdue student accounts receivable Serves as contact with tuition insurance provider and coordinates claims with families & insurance company Manages business office petty cash, cafeteria, concessions & athletics petty cash Ad hoc reporting Technology Implementation: Support the implementation, migration, and optimization of financial software systems and accounting modules. Partner with IT and cross-functional teams to streamline financial workflows through system integrations and process automation. AI Integration & Data Analytics: Leverage AI-driven tools to automate manual accounting processes, including invoice processing, expense categorization, and bank reconciliations. Develop dashboards and data visualizations to provide insights for executive leadership. Demonstrated ability to map financial processes and identify opportunities for digital transformation. Software & AI: Experience with ERP systems, business intelligence tools, and Excel functions. Familiarity with emerging financial technologies and AI/ML applications in accounting to drive efficiency and accuracy.
