Position: Physical Education/ Health/ Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher
Hours or FTE: 1.0 FTE Starting Date: August 18, 2026
Job Description: Stewartville Public Schools is seeking physical education teacher to provide high-quality instruction that promotes lifelong health, wellness, and physical activity for all learners. This position may include teaching Physical Education, Health, Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE), or any combination of these areas based on district needs and the successful candidate''s qualifications. Responsibilities may include planning and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction; assessing student progress; creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments; collaborating with general and special education staff; communicating with families; and fostering students'' development of motor skills, physical fitness, teamwork, recreation and leisure skills, healthy decision-making, and lifelong wellness habits. When serving in the DAPE role, responsibilities also include conducting motor assessments, determining eligibility for adapted physical education services, developing and implementing individualized physical education programs, monitoring progress toward IEP goals, and providing specialized instruction, accommodations, and adaptations to ensure students with disabilities have equitable access to physical education.
Qualifications/Degree:
- Education: Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Licensure: Valid Minnesota Teaching Licensure in Physical Education, Health, and Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE).
Job Requirements:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, candidates must meet the following physical and technical requirements:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, jog, and actively demonstrate physical activities or sports for long periods throughout the school day.
- Mobility & Lifting: Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift/move up to 40 pounds (assisting students with equipment, transfers, or positioning as needed).
- Technical Skills: Proficient computer skills, email, and digital progress tracking.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse student populations, families, and multidisciplinary school teams
Beginning Salary Range: Per the Stewartville United Educators'' Master Agreement
