The Executive Director develops and implements personnel policies, ensures compliance with federal and Minnesota laws, recruits and retains high-quality employees, leads labor relations, oversees employee performance systems, supports district culture, and provides leadership in the strategic direction of the school district. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to the Superintendent and School Board regarding personnel matters and promotes a workplace that supports student achievement through exceptional staff. FLSA Status: Exempt Supervises: HR Generalists, Administrative Assistants, and other personnel as assigned. Licensure Required : Degree in Human Resources Management, Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration (MBA), Organizational Leadership, Labor Relations, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field Preferred Licensure/Certificates: Minnesota K-12 Principal or Superintendent License, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Certified Labor Relations Professional, Certified School Human Resources Professional (AASA or AASPA programs), Public Sector Human Resources Certification Preferred three or more years of HR experience Preferred experience in Minnesota public education, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, supervising professional staff, and managing employee investigations and personnel matters Compensation : $115,000-$135,000 annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Human Resources Leadership: Align staffing with district strategic goals, Advise Superintendent and School Board regarding personnel matters, Lead workforce planning and succession planning, Develop district culture initiatives, and Monitor staffing trends and labor market conditions Talent Acquisition: Develop recruitment strategies, Oversee all hiring processes, Ensure fair and equitable hiring practices, Develop educator recruitment pipelines, Coordinate licensure verification, and Improve employee onboarding and orientation Employee Relations: Investigate employee complaints, Conduct workplace investigations, Resolve conflicts, Provide coaching to administrators, Support restorative workplace practices, and Promote a positive district climate Labor Relations: Member of the collective bargaining team, Interpret negotiated agreements, Manage grievances, Coordinate arbitration preparation, and Train administrators on contract administration Performance Management: Oversee evaluation systems, Support administrator coaching, Develop improvement plans, Coordinate disciplinary processes, and Recommend employment actions Compensation and Benefits: Recommend salary schedules, Conduct compensation studies, Oversee employee benefits, Analyze labor costs, and Coordinate insurance programs HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, Develop personnel policies, Maintain employee records, Prepare state and federal reports, and Conduct compliance audits Professional Development: Develop HR training programs, Train supervisors, Coordinate legal compliance training, and Promote leadership development School Board Relations: Prepare personnel recommendations, Present HR reports, Draft policy revisions, Participate in closed sessions, and Advise on employment law Benefits: Health Insurance Life Insurance Long Term Disability PERA 403(b) Disability (Sick) Leave/ESST Leave Vacation/Holidays Albert Lea Area Schools?
