As a Lower School Special Education Teacher at Franklin Center, you will be pivotal in providing individualized instruction, support, and accommodations to our neurodivergent students. Collaborating closely with classroom behavior therapists, teachers, administrators, and parents, you will develop and implement effective strategies to maximize student learning outcomes. Your dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment will significantly contribute to the overall success of our school community. The classroom setting is 5-10 kids in a classroom with a teacher and a behavior therapist in each classroom. Our students are higher functioning, and the classrooms are blended, i.e., K-2, but again, small classroom sizes. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree Prior experience working with neurodivergent students, preferably in a special education setting Strong knowledge of neurodivergent instructional strategies, tools, and best practices Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and develop individualized learning plans Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with neurodivergent students Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Technological proficiency to utilize assistive technology and educational software Responsibilities: Plan and deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique learning needs and goals of our neurodivergent students, working closely with the student''s educational team, parents, and relevant specialists. Adapt and modify instructional materials, resources, and assessments to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of our students. Provide necessary support and accommodations to ensure student success. Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Collaborate with team teachers to maintain best practices in data-driven instruction and assessment. Work with students? therapy staff to support student regulation and success in the classroom. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student progress data, including progress reports, conference forms, and year-end reports. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and foster a strong home-school partnership. Stay informed about current research, best practices, and legal requirements related to neurodivergent education to ensure compliance and deliver high-quality instruction and support. Participate in two after-school clubs per year.
