The School Counselor provides comprehensive academic, career, college, and social-emotional counseling services to students, with an emphasis on supporting American Indian students and promoting equitable educational outcomes. Working collaboratively with school staff, families, Tribal partners and community agencies, the School Counselor helps students overcome barriers to learning, develop education and career plans and successfully prepare for post-secondary education, careers and lifelong success. The School Counselor serves as an advocate for students by promoting culturally responsive practices, coordinating interventions and fostering positive relationships that support student achievement, well-being, attendance and graduation. The candidate best for this position would be willing to be a student of the ever-evolving Indian Education and Indigenous-focused counseling strategies.
