Position: Safety Liaison Location: Randolph Public Schools ? Districtwide (PK?12) Schedule: Part-Time | 7:45 a.m.?3:00 p.m. Starting Pay: $25.00/hour, based on experience Reports To: High School Principal and Superintendent Join Our Team Randolph Public Schools is seeking a dependable, relationship-focused professional to serve as our Safety Liaison . The Safety Liaison will play an important role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, families, and visitors. This position focuses on visibility, prevention, relationship-building, emergency preparedness, and collaboration . We are looking for someone who can build trust with students, remain calm under pressure, and work closely with school staff and community safety partners. Key Responsibilities School Safety & Security Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout school buildings and grounds. Monitor entrances, parking lots, hallways, common areas, athletic facilities, and other school spaces. Assist with visitor management and building access procedures. Monitor cameras, alarms, radios, and other safety systems. Respond to safety concerns, behavioral incidents, and emergencies. Assist with arrival, dismissal, traffic flow, and supervision during the school day. Conduct routine safety checks and identify potential concerns or hazards. Student Support & School Climate Build positive relationships with students of all ages. Serve as a trusted and approachable adult for students. Use appropriate de-escalation strategies during behavioral or emotional situations. Collaborate with administrators, counselors, social workers, special education staff, and other school personnel. Reinforce positive behavior expectations and contribute to a welcoming school environment. Emergency Preparedness & Response Assist with emergency preparedness and district safety planning. Support fire, lockdown, evacuation, severe weather, and reunification drills. Participate on the district Crisis Response Team. Assist with threat assessments and individualized safety planning. Help maintain emergency supplies and safety equipment. Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and emergency management personnel. Provide immediate assistance during emergencies and medical situations until additional help arrives. Accurately document safety-related incidents. Community & Staff Collaboration Develop strong working relationships with the Dakota County Sheriff?s Office, local EMS, and Randolph/Hampton Fire Department. Participate in district safety committees. Assist with staff safety training and student safety education. Promote a culture of preparedness, prevention, and positive relationships throughout the district. Special Events The Safety Liaison may also assist with safety planning and supervision for: Athletic events Fine arts performances Graduation Homecoming School dances Parent and community events Preferred Qualifications Associate?s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Education, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field OR equivalent education and experience . Three or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: School safety or school security Law enforcement Emergency management Military service Youth services Corrections Behavioral intervention Public safety Experience working with children or adolescents is strongly preferred. Valid Minnesota Driver?s License. Successful completion of a background check. Certifications The following certifications are required and may be obtained after hire: CPR / AED / First Aid Narcan Administration Minnesota Restrictive Procedures Training District Emergency Response Training What We?re Looking For The ideal candidate: Builds trust before problems arise. Physical & Work Requirements Candidates must be able to walk and stand for extended periods, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, respond quickly during emergencies, work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely perform approved physical interventions when necessary. Some flexibility for evening, weekend, and special-event coverage may be needed.
