This position provides an opportunity to step into an established agriculture program and provide continuity for students throughout the long-term assignment. The successful candidate will work with middle and high school students and will implement the agriculture curriculum and courses already established by the district. The position will emphasize engaging, hands-on learning experiences while maintaining a positive, safe, and productive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an agriculture educator, licensed teacher, recent graduate, or agriculture professional who enjoys working with students and would like to gain additional classroom experience without the responsibility of developing an entirely new program. Primary Responsibilities The long-term substitute will: Teach assigned agriculture courses to students in grades 7?12. Follow and implement the established agriculture curriculum and lesson plans. Provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students. Maintain a safe and productive classroom, laboratory, and shop environment. Supervise students during hands-on activities and agriculture projects. Assess student learning and maintain accurate grades and attendance. Establish positive relationships with students. Communicate with families and staff as appropriate. Collaborate with other teachers and administration. Follow established classroom, laboratory, and school procedures. Maintain continuity of instruction throughout the long-term assignment. Support agriculture-related student activities and experiences as appropriate. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will: Enjoy working with middle and high school students. Have experience or knowledge in agriculture or a related field. Be comfortable with hands-on instruction and agriculture-related activities. Demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills. Be flexible and willing to work within an established curriculum. Work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community members. Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to become part of the Zumbrota-Mazeppa school community. Experience in areas such as agriculture mechanics, welding, construction, animal science, natural resources, horticulture, or other agriculture-related fields is welcomed. Licensure Candidates holding a Minnesota Agriculture teaching license are encouraged to apply. Candidates who do not currently hold a traditional Minnesota teaching license but have appropriate education, professional credentials, or significant experience in agriculture or a related field are also encouraged to apply. Licensure eligibility will be determined in accordance with Minnesota PELSB requirements.
