Date Available: 10/30/2026 Duty Days Per Year: MSHSL Fall Season; plus planning of off-season program Hours Per Day: Varies as arranged with supervisor Type of Position: () Continuing ( x) Temporary Salary: $4,046-$4,817 Supervisor of Position: Joan Johnson, Activities Director Assistant Gymnastics Coach Location: St. Francis High School Position Summary St. Francis High School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated Assistant Gymnastics Coach to provide leadership, technical instruction, and guidance to student-athletes within our gymnastics program. Working closely with the Head Coach and coaching staff, the Assistant Coach supports overall program goals, fosters character development, and prioritizes athlete safety, skill progression, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Program Development: Plan, organize, and execute effective practices focused on gymnastics skill progression, routine construction, technique, conditioning, and flexibility. Assist the Head Coach with routine development, athlete evaluations, team lineup selection, and meet strategies across all four apparatuses (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise). Partner with the Head Coach and Community Education to support youth feeder programs, club partnerships, and summer camps. Student-Athlete Safety, Welfare & Culture: Prioritize athlete safety through proper spotting techniques, equipment setup/inspection, and injury prevention protocols during practices, meets, locker room monitoring, and team travel. Model high energy, positive leadership, and sportsmanship in accordance with the MSHSL "Coach''s Code of Ethics" and conference guidelines. Measure success through individual skill improvement, team goal achievement, and positive character development, not solely winning. Communication & Program Administration: Maintain open, professional communication with head coaching staff, athletes, parents, administration, and community stakeholders. Assist with gymnastics equipment setup, breakdown, mat management, and uniform issuance and collection. Adhere strictly to MSHSL season start/end dates and rules regarding out-of-season coaching. Assist with post-season planning, including awards distribution, certificate requests, and post-season reporting as requested by the Activities Director and Head Coach. Perform other program-related duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Activities Director. Qualifications & Competencies Preferred Qualifications: Prior gymnastics coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, or youth level. High school, club, or collegiate gymnastics competing experience. Strong background in safe spotting practices across all gymnastics events.
