This role involves teaching vocal music, guiding students in developing their musical abilities, and preparing them for performances. The Choir Teacher will collaborate with other music staff, provide individual and group instruction, and foster a love for music among students. Assignment: Certified MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY Job Requirements: * Conducts individual and group choir rehearsals for students in grades 4-12. * Leads choir groups focusing on vocal technique, music theory, and performance preparation. * Creates lesson plans tailored to the diverse skill levels of students. * Provides opportunities for students to participate in school concerts, district festivals, and other musical events. * Organizes and directs choir performances, ensuring students are well-prepared and confident. * Coordinates with other music staff to integrate choir programs with broader music education goals. * Collaborates with parents, staff, and the community to support students' musical growth and involvement. * Assists students in exploring opportunities for further musical education and potential careers in music. * Consults with instructional staff to integrate choir activities with other academic programs. * Facilitates opportunities for students to engage in musical competitions and honor choir programs. * Helps organize and prepare students for auditions for college music programs and scholarships. * Represents the music department at various school and district meetings. * Performs other duties as required, related to the overall development and success of the choir program. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing job conditions. * Strong knowledge of vocal music education principles, trends, methods, and procedures. * Understanding of district educational policies and procedures. * Familiarity with music curriculum standards and performance assessment techniques. * Knowledge of the basics of music theory, vocal technique, and performance skills. * Proficiency in using music education software and tools for instruction and performance. * Effective interpersonal and group communication skills. * Expertise in providing vocal instruction and leading choir performances. * Ability to analyze and assess students&#8217; musical needs, challenges, and progress. * Experience in leading and facilitating choir rehearsals and performances. * Competence in communicating and collaborating with parents, teachers, students, and administration regarding student progress and musical development. Supervision of Other Employees: This position is not responsible for the supervision of other District employees. Working Environment: Duties are generally performed in a typical classroom or school setting with minimal environmental hazards and risks. Occasionally, employees may be exposed to challenging conditions involving contact with students, parents, or other individuals. Physical requirements include: * Standing, using hands dexterously, reaching with hands and arms, and lifting up to 20 pounds (1-33% of the time, occasionally). * Walking and sitting (34-66% of the time, frequently). * Talking or hearing (67-100% of the time, continuously) Minimum Qualifications: Education: * Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Music Education or a related field. Experience: * Experience in teaching choir or vocal music to students in grades 4-12. Licensure: * Licensed Music Teacher in the State of Minnesota.
