Creating a safe Social-Emotional Learning Environment Job Summary The evening receptionist is responsible for maintaining a welcoming environment for guests, stakeholders, parents, students and staff of Community School of Excellence. This person will be primarily responsible for ensuring that student's attendance is tracked, after school bussing, parent/student interaction and transportation resolution, and final clear of all buses from routes at regular dismissal and after school dismissal. The evening receptionist will report directly to the Office Manager. Responsibilities Administrative support (50%) * Greets parents, students, staff and public in a pleasant and helpful manner * Signs-in/out students and/or parents as they arrive or leave during school day * Provides sign-in registration and visitor badges as needed * Demonstrates and creates a positive, professional and courteous client service to all staff, students and public (SMILE) * Provides the public with information about our school (in person and over the phone) * Answers incoming calls, transfer calls, takes messages in professional manner * Ensures that parents and visitors have appropriate escorts when visiting classrooms * Determines priorities and directs individuals to appropriate staff in professional manner * Assist with school events * Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Student Safety support (50%) * Work with operations staff to ensure that all student pick-up and bus changes are accurately documented and communicated to students, teachers, and appropriate staff. * Ensure that students are on the appropriate buses in the afternoon/at dismissal and any after school programs. * Builds rapport and becomes familiar with students through daily interaction * Contacts parents when there are student emergencies * Work with appropriate staff to respond to parent concerns * After School program liaison with transportation and security to ensure all students are clear of the school. Position Specifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities * Bilingual in English and Hmong, Karen or Karenni preferred * Experience and aptitude working with young children * High level of patience and ability to calmly and clearly redirect and guide young children * Demonstrated multi-cultural experience and ability to communicate with limited-English speakers * Demonstrates superior judgment in all aspects of work. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a strong team player. * Ability to multi-task and handle high volume of interruptions * Familiarity and comfort with electronic forms of communication, including ready access and responsiveness to e-mail correspondence. * Ability to sit for long-periods of time and enter student and staff data accurately into Infinite Campus and for other state required reports. Qualifications * AA degree; preferred BA degree * Minimum of 2 year experience, especially with office administration work * Ability to multi-task and handle high volume of interruptions * Knowledge of Hmong culture and issues facing Southeast Asian communities, especially Hmong families.
