Position Overview The successful candidate will be an individual who: * has a strong desire to work with high school students * be familiar with levels of langauage acquisition as well as how to provide appropriate supports for students to increase their language skills * has the ability to collaborate with their colleagues to discuss instruction and assessment to meet the needs of the students * possess a sense of responsibility for the learning of all of the students * has experience with technology &#8230; firmly believes: * all students can and will learn, and that their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control; * in the need to work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leaders throughout the system, aligning the work of adults around improving student learning by meeting the needs, interests, and aspirations of students; * in the need to work in partnership with staff to continuously improve practices to enhance student and family engagement, creating the conditions for equity, excellence and student success; and * in personalizing learning for students, meeting academic, social, and emotional needs and aspirations so that each student feels valued and has a sense of belonging, leading to academic success Primary Responsibilities Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: * Provide direct service and support to students identified as English learners, creating an environment in which English learners can use their strengths, leverage home language, and further develop academic English language skills * Identify students for English language services and design and implement student work and learning experiences * Assess and monitor English language development and use the information in lesson design * Communicate regularly with families of students identified as English learners, and all staff who serve English learners, providing updates and working collaboratively to meet the needs of each learner * Collaborate with and support teachers in the implementation of effective language development practices, including sheltered strategies and identifying and communicating academic language needs across content areas * Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues * Be a steward for students identified as English Learners and their families Preferences We strongly prefer candidates who are dual licensed in EL and Math, or EL and Science. Prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration and communication with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students. Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area. Preferred candidates continually improve their practice by learning from and with others exploring proven and promising practices that personalize student learning. Qualifications The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and have a current Minnesota State Licensure in English as a Second Language. We strongly prefer candidates who are dual licensed in EL and Math, or EL and Science. Prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration and communication with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students.  Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area.  Preferred candidates continually improve their practice by learning from and with others exploring proven and promising practices that personalize student learning.
 
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and have a current Minnesota State Licensure in English as a Second Language.
