Creating a safe Social-Emotional Learning Environment Job Summary The Director of Special Education is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in special education students achieving academic success in accordance with school mission, vision, programs, and policies. This person will provide focused instructional supervision to all SPED PreK-12 teachers. The Director of Special Education reports to the Chief Academic Director. Responsibilities * Provides leadership and broad oversight of District SPED program PreK-12 * Ensure the District is in compliance with Department of Education regulations and requirements of the Special Education Department. * Lead and represent District with Special Education audits * Coordinate and facilitate SPED department meetings including child find meetings * Coordinate SPED Evaluations through child find committee * Identifies necessary resources and trainings to enhance the professional development of all teachers and staff * Research and procure SPED curriculum school-wide to support math and literacy goals * Conduct presentation(s) on SPED to CSE board, staff, parents, and community on behalf of CSE. * Be a part of Leadership Implementation, Academic, Student Strategy, and Academic Leadership Team * Oversee creation and implementation of SPED Handbook, referral process, brochure and materials. * Assist Administration in matters related to SPED * Perform other duties assigned by supervisor Qualifications * Bachelor&#8217;s Degree or higher (Master&#8217;s Degree preferred) from an accredited college or university * A valid MN Teacher License required * Special Education License in one or more areas of disability * Valid Special Education Director License * Teaching experience in diverse cultural settings is valued -- Community School of Excellence School District #4181, 270 Larpenteur Ave West, St. Paul, MN 55113 Please submit the following: 1.
