Position Title: Special Services Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS : Hold a minimum of a BA/BS or demonstrate equivalency from an accredited institution in a related field Experience serving students with neurodiverse needs perferred Have and maintain a Minnesota teaching license or meet the requirements of the Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) Complete a background check with no history of substantiated child abuse or neglect and attend a VIRTUS training session prior to employment Maintain current CPR, first aid, and bloodborne pathogen certifications Carry out these duties and responsibilities in support of the Mission Statement and philosophy of Carondelet Catholic School JOB PURPOSE: To support teachers and parents in differentiating the learning for students with special needs in accordance with the School?s Mission Statement, philosophy, and curriculum and work with parents on finding resources and supports to help their children. This position most effectively serves students who have been professionally identified as having a learning disability, ADHD, Asperger syndrome and/or who have general challenges across subjects with learning and study strategies. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Public behavior must not violate the faith, morals, teachings, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese. It is expected that all employees respect the doctrine and religious practices of the Catholic Church. Reasonable accommodations for the religious practices of employees not of the Roman Catholic faith will similarly be respected. When religion is a significant factor for the particular job under consideration, the religion of the applicant may be taken into account. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES : Student Support: Provide direct service to students experiencing challenges that create barriers to learning Advocate with teachers for accommodations Guide families and teachers to all accessible student resources Individual personal/emotional support Organize and lead ILP meetings. Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences Teacher Support Communicate individual academic needs Review and interpret assessment data to guide teachers in providing targeted intervention Assist in observation/data collection Provide occasional inservice on special needs/teaching tip suggestions Lead Child Study meetings involving student needs Research tools to support learning and classroom differentiation Lead data meetings with teachers and interventionists Organize meetings, contact participants, and follow up with action items. Coach/work with teachers who are needing more support to help students Parent Support Upon parent request, refer for testing/evaluation Relate test results to school program (attend meetings, explain test results) Connect parents to programs/services/software Guide parents in the journey of supporting students with diverse needs Administrative Support Serve as liaison between and among student/parent/teacher/administration/MPS Provide statistical information on numbers and types of student needs Coordinate services with Minneapolis Public Schools Assist and advise principal in reviewing registration forms of children with special needs Coordinate WIN room activity, including a schedule for NWEA MAP testing, intervention, and general student WIN room use. Maintain appropriate communication with all constituencies Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Carondelet Employee Handbook, the School Faculty and Staff Manual, and Parent/Student Handbook.
