Gateway STEM Academy Location: Saint Paul, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2026-2027 Gateway STEM Academy, a K?8 charter school dedicated to preparing students for success in STEM fields, is seeking a Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. This role focuses on delivering rigorous, standards-aligned literacy instruction that builds students? reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Position Overview As a Middle School ELA Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction for students in grades 6?8. You will foster a strong classroom culture, implement research-based literacy practices, and collaborate with colleagues and families to support student growth and achievement. This is a full-time position during the school day . Key Responsibilities Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned ELA lessons that strengthen reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including discussion-based learning, project-based learning, and differentiated instruction. Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, critical thinking, and a love of reading. Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instructional decisions. Provide timely, meaningful feedback to support student growth in writing and literacy skills. Incorporate diverse texts and perspectives to ensure culturally responsive and inclusive instruction. Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and specialists to align instruction and interventions. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and ways to support literacy at home. Implement classroom management practices aligned with school-wide expectations. Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in 5–12 Communication Arts and Literature (or eligibility for licensure)

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching ELA at the middle school level

  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, writing pedagogy, and adolescent learners

  • Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equitable instructional practices

  • Ability to use student data to guide instruction and improve outcomes

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
