POSITION SUMMARY: Performs skilled level professional accounting work in the preparation and maintenance of ledgers and reports; and performs related duties as required. The purpose of this position is to maintain accurate and systematic financial records for the school district that meet all state and federal requirements. WHAT YOU WILL DO: The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: Perform internal auditing work of a complex or advanced nature in examining and verifying the accuracy of a variety of accounting reports, records, documents, statements, and other financial information. Process accounts receivable/receipting duties. Reconciliation and initiation of MEGS Federal funds draw requests. Completion and verification of monthly bank reconciliation along with daily tracking of activity. Assist and participate in the preparation of the annual audit. Manage year-end audit workpapers including, but not limited to: Cash, Investments, Payables, Severance. Management and implementation of new GASB initiatives. Perform cost analysis of labor contracts proposals and provide financial advice relating to negotiation strategy. Coordinate, collect and verify all financial information through the budgeting system. Work with district staff and school leadership to develop and monitor budgets. Develop reports for departments and schools for budget monitoring and analysis. Monitor and communicate budget variances ? Process budget reallocations and revisions. Provide guidance to district staff on coding, policies and procedures and eFinance, etc. Maintain district''s chart of accounts to ensure UFARS compliance. Serve as back up to other finance staff including the accountant and purchasing specialist. Manage the day-to-day activities of the finance office in the absence of the Controller. Attend staff development opportunities through MDE, MASBO, and various financial firms. Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller and Executive Director of Business. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Specific training or job experience required before appointment) : Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field. Preferred - Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field. 7+ years directly related experience performing professional accounting functions preferred. Knowledge of UFARS, GAAP, and GASB rules and guidelines. Strong knowledge of Microsoft office and Google software products. Excellent keyboarding, ten key and data entry skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills. SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8 hours per day SALARY: $80,000-$90,000 This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month position, working 261 days per year.
