Start Your Online Application Now Date of Availability: 2026-2027 SY Date Closing: Open Until Filled Position Overview Up North Learning Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our Setting IV program. Our separate-site school provides specialized educational services for students placed by their resident school districts. The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction, case management, behavioral support, and social skills development for students with unique educational and emotional needs. This position requires collaboration with families, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure student success in a structured and supportive learning environment. The successful candidate must meet all state and federal special education requirements and adhere to the Minnesota Teacher Code of Ethics. Essential Responsibilities Provide specialized instruction in all academic content areas based on student IEP goals Coordinate and conduct Part B re-evaluations as needed Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Participate in multidisciplinary assessments and team meetings Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, evaluations, and compliance records Support students with social skills development and behavior intervention strategies Collaborate with parents, service providers, and community agencies to support student success Plan and deliver individualized and small-group instruction Supervise and support classroom staff, including Behavior Interventionists Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment Utilize a variety of instructional methods and teaching materials Monitor and evaluate student progress on an ongoing basis Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities Assist with student transitions between educational settings Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times Complete required certifications, including Handle with Care and LSCI Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Current Minnesota teaching license in Special Education, Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Experience working in special education settings preferred Experience with evaluations, IEP development, progress monitoring, and due process procedures Experience working in a self-contained classroom or Federal Setting IV program preferred Strong collaboration, communication, and classroom management skills Schedule & Compensation Hours per Day: 8 (7:30 am -3:30 pm) Duty Days: 183 days per year (August?June) Salary: $59,000-$80,724 depending on education and experience Why Join Up North Learning Center? Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota teaching license in Special Education, Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

  • Experience working in a self-contained classroom or Federal Setting IV program preferred
