SUMMARY
The Middle School STEAM Teacher provides engaging, standards-aligned instruction that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through project-based learning and hands-on experiences. This educator fosters creativity, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while preparing students to apply interdisciplinary knowledge to real-world challenges. The STEAM Teacher creates a dynamic learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and responsible use of technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Develops and delivers engaging STEAM lessons aligned with state standards and school curriculum goals
● Designs and facilitates hands-on, project-based learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics concepts
● Creates opportunities for students to apply critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through authentic learning experiences
● Incorporates technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and support student learning
● Maintains and manages STEAM materials, equipment, technology, and learning spaces to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
● Assesses student learning using a variety of formative and summative measures and uses data to inform instructional decisions
● Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of students
● Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to integrate STEAM concepts across content areas and support interdisciplinary learning
● Teaches and models responsible digital citizenship, technology use, and safe practices when using tools and equipment
● Encourages student innovation, perseverance, and growth mindset through inquiry-based learning and design thinking processes
● Communicates regularly with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and learning opportunities
● Participates in professional development, staff meetings, and collaborative planning activities
● Maintains a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom culture that promotes engagement, respect, and academic success
● Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
QUALIFICATIONS
● Valid Minnesota teaching license or ability to obtain appropriate licensure
● Strong knowledge of STEAM content areas and instructional best practices
● Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction
● Ability to facilitate project-based and inquiry-based learning experiences
● Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
● Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Ability to move throughout the school building and classroom environment
● Ability to lift and move instructional materials and equipment as needed
● Ability to supervise and engage students in a variety of classroom and project-based activities
