The successful candidate will foster a positive school culture, support high levels of student achievement, and provide instructional leadership while ensuring the effective daily operation of the school. This position plays a key leadership role in advancing literacy, curriculum, student services, and staff development. Primary Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Serve as the District Literacy Lead, providing leadership and support for literacy initiatives across the district. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful feedback to support high-quality instruction. Coordinate curriculum implementation and continuous improvement efforts for Highland School. Analyze student achievement data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes. Promote best practices in teaching and learning to ensure academic excellence for all students. Student Services & School Climate Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff, and families. Oversee student discipline and establish consistent behavioral expectations that support a positive school climate. Manage student transportation discipline in collaboration with transportation staff. Develop and write Section 504 Plans and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Supervise and oversee the district''s Title Programs and ADSIS (Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services) Program. Demonstrate knowledge of and experience supporting Pre-K and Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) programs. Leadership & Operations Manage the daily operations of Highland School to ensure an efficient, effective learning environment. Plan, coordinate, and oversee staff supervision, evaluation, and professional growth. Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the community through open communication and collaboration. Support district initiatives and work collaboratively with district leadership to achieve strategic goals. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Qualifications Minnesota Principal License (or ability to obtain licensure). Master''s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or a related field. Successful teaching and administrative experience, preferably at the elementary level. Experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and literacy initiatives. Knowledge of Pre-K, ECFE, Title programming, ADSIS, Section 504 requirements, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is preferred. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative teams and foster continuous school improvement.
