Start Your Online Application Now Date of Availability: 08/24/2026 POSITION: DEAN OF INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION AND INSTRUCTION JOB SUMMARY: Onamia Public Schools seeks an innovative, culturally grounded, and visionary educational leader to serve as Dean of Indigenous Language Revitalization and Instruction . Serving a student population that is approximately 63% American Indian (Anishinaabe), the Dean will lead the district''s efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve Indigenous-centered educational programming aligned with Minnesota''s Indian Education for All legislation, state academic standards, and the educational priorities of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and other Tribal Nations represented within the district. The Dean of Indigenous Language Revitalization and Instruction will provide strategic leadership for Indigenous language revitalization, culturally responsive curriculum development, Tribal and academic partnerships, student achievement initiatives, professional development, language proficiency assessment, and Indigenous community engagement. This position combines leadership with direct instructional responsibilities, including teaching two immersion-based, credit-bearing courses annually. This position will champion educational excellence through the integration of Anishinaabe language, culture, knowledge systems, and community partnerships, ensuring that all students benefit from an educational experience grounded in respect, truth, belonging, and academic rigor while advancing the district''s commitment to Indigenous student success and cultural revitalization. The successful candidate will possess deep knowledge of Mille Lacs Anishinaabe history, culture, Ojibwe language, educational sovereignty, and Indigenous pedagogies while fostering meaningful collaboration among educators, students, families, Tribal governments, higher education institutions, and community organizations. *Full Job Description available upon request REQUIREMENTS: B achelor''s degree, demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, educational systems or language revitalization programs. Knowledge of Anishinaabe history, culture, traditions, governance and education perspectives. Experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships among diverse stakeholders. Commitment to educational equity and Indigenous student success. Maintain and/or obtain a valid Minnesota teaching license.
