FTE 1.0 This position will be working at the middle school level in a Specially Designed Classroom (SDC). Position Description: Wayzata Public Schools is currently seeking a Related Service Provider with strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills necessary to assist special education teams in designing and implementing positive behavior interventions, strategies and supports for students whose social/emotional needs and behaviors impedes their learning. * Participate in a collaborative team that provides services for students who may need up to a federal setting III educational environment. * Assist in conducting functional behavioral analysis, developing positive behavior support plans and assisting in leading teams in implementing those plans. * Provide direct service as well as training to staff and parents to assist them in acquiring the skills necessary to support the implementation of each student's IEP. * Provide consultation to teams regarding mental health concerns and how they affect learning. * Interface mental health concerns with an educational setting. * Provide service coordination, IEP Management and individual an/or group social/emotional support to students in a specially designed classroom. * Support students academic needs. * Training and skill in working with diverse populations is desirable. * Training in crisis intervention and prevention strategies preferred. Position will require de-escalation an potentially intervening with physically aggressive students. * Experience working in a school and with a school team preferred. * Experience in working with students with disabilities whose school success is impacted by social/emotional and behavioral challenges. * Knowledge of interventions to assist in building social skills and self-regulation. Qualifications: * Related professional license(s) such as, School Social Work, School Psychologist, Licensed Special Education Teacher or qualifying related service professional. * Experience and willingness to work on general education teams and provide collaborative special education services with general education teachers is required. * Interest in and ability to relate well to middle school students.
