Coordinates the day-to-day activities at multiple preschool programming sites, including Kaleidoscope & Stepping Stone Preschool, and Stay & Explore (child care for 4 year olds). Supervises Stay & Explore Supervisors, Leaders and assistants. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions: * Understand and implement early childhood program philosophy, policies, and procedures in alignment with Hopkins Public Schools and 4 Star Parent Aware guidelines * Cultivate, support, and expand partnerships between school, families, and community to best support all program staff and students. * Maintains a safe, healthy environment for children, by ensuring all employees follow program health and safety procedures * In an ongoing effort for program quality and improvement, provide orientation and DHS compliance trainings for staff, and oversee the Parent Aware quality rating process. * Supervises and evaluates the performance of preschool child care staff (Stay & Explore Supervisor, Leader, assistants). * Effectively communicates with co-workers, school personnel, administration and families regarding daily program operations. * Promotes a team concept through participation in site meetings, coaching, and positive role modeling * Create a team atmosphere through effective communication, regular site staff meetings, and ongoing coaching and mentoring. * Participates with supervisor in an on-going self-performance review. * Collaborate with clerical and registration staff. Other Functions * Maintain staff development records based on identified needs of staff and program requirements / improvement goals. * Promote a positive image of the programs by maintaining open and positive communication between site, school staff, parents and community. * Work with Preschool Supervisor to enroll and orient new and existing families into preschool programs. * Participate in hiring process for all staff positions. * Participate on school/district committees per request * Oversee substitute process for preschool programs. Serve as an emergency substitute if no other suitable substitute can be found. * Other tasks and responsibilities as delegated by supervisors. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Good communication skills * Good organizational skills * Dependability * Demonstrated experience in a multi-cultural diverse preschool setting * Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of young children, ages 3-5 years. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively as a member of a management team * Understanding of or interest in learning about the Reggio Emilia philosophy * Ability to work independently and take initiative * Ability to mediate and problem solve with staff * Ability to become First Aid and CPR certified * Ability to learn and adapt to changes in technology programs EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in early childhood education, or elementary degree with experience in early childhood. * MN Licensure in Early Childhood Education. JOB SUMMARY
