The social worker will be a collaborative team member with another secondary counselor. West Central Education District hires all school social workers who work within the member school districts, however, office location will be in the Albany MS and immediate supervisor will be the MS Principal. Regular meetings offer collaboration with the 6 School Social Workers hired by West Central Education District who work in the other member districts of Sauk Centre, Melrose and Paynesville. The position includes typical school social worker duties by working with general education and special education students who are experiencing social or emotional stressors that impact their success within the classroom. The delivery of service is focused on behavioral health and tracking progress by connecting skills instruction to academic engagement as well as connections to outside resources. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in social work. 2. Licensed as a school social worker by the Minnesota Department of Education. 3. Excellent communication skills. 4. Strong human relation and organizational skills. 5. Ability to build positive, productive relationships with diverse individuals and groups. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience as a school social worker. 2. Experience with trauma informed care and effective strategies.
