Creating a Social-Emotional Learning Environment JOB INFORMATION Job Title: Teacher &#8211; Special Education Reports to: Division Educational Leader Hours: 40 hours a week &#8211; 10-month contract Office Location: 5105 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 Salary Range: DOE JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the division&#8217;s Educational Leader, the Teacher &#8211; Special Education is responsible for creating an environment that supports a culture of learning and embraces student achievement. The Special Education Teacher will plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students with different learning abilities in a variety of educational settings, particularly in the classroom and/or individual support. This includes creating classroom lesson plans, administering recognition, modeling exemplary behavior and facilitating/instructing assignments for scholars based on their individualized education plan (IEPs). He/she will also partner with classroom teachers to develop consistent and co-strategies across grade levels and collaborate with Academic Coaches to develop classroom strategies. The Teacher - SPED must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have integrity, and is accountable to his/her actions. He/she will align himself/herself with NMA&#8217;s core principles and understands the unique challenges of an immigrant and refugee community. A successful teacher will also have experience in a high performing fast paced environment.
