Hiawatha Academies is a growing network of high-performing, K-12 open enrollment public charter schools. Hiawatha Academies is launching a specialized special education program for students in second through fourth grade with more significant development and cognitive disabilities. This program is committed to providing students with individualized and responsive instruction which holds students to high expectations. This teacher will lead on all planning and execution of instructional, behavioral and functional skills for the classroom as well as refining data systems and participating in school-based professional development, when appropriate for the program. Additionally, this teacher will plan for and guide para-educators to support in the execution of classroom instruction and support of students. Job Description The Special Education Teacher is responsible for supporting a powerful vision for student achievement based on Hiawatha&#8217;s Five Guiding Principles and for motivating others toward the realization of that vision. The Special Education teacher will provide direct instruction and case management for students identified for Hiawatha&#8217;s specialized program. The Special Education Teacher will work under the direction of the Manager of Student Support Services and in collaboration with Campus Leaders, Deans of Student Support Services, and Special and General Education Teachers. Responsibilities * Write, implement, and track the goals for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students in Hiawatha&#8217;s specialized program * Assist in the initial and three year re-evaluation of students to determine qualification and need for special education services including conducting achievements testing, data collection, observations, interviews, and functional behavior assessments * Provide direct instruction and support for students in the Hiawatha&#8217;s Specialized Program * Collaborate with the Manager of Student Support Services to lead the research and development of the specialized program, including visiting other schools, researching curricula, and piloting instructional strategies. * Pilot models and curricula to identify the most effective instructional models for the program * Evaluate program data to assess the efficacy of instructional models * Support para-educators to ensure students in the specialized program are receiving strong supports throughout the classroom and when joining the general education classrooms * Maintain compliant special education records * Perform other duties as required and assigned Special Education Staff must demonstrate knowledge of and support Hiawatha Academies&#8217; mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior. Hiawatha Employment Logistics Teachers must be present from 7:00am-3:15pm, Monday-Friday. Time will be split between All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in all Family Events at the school. Hiawatha Employment Logistics

Teachers must be present from 7:00am-3:15pm, Monday-Friday. Time will be split between
