PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide services for students identified as having needs within special education. 2. Provide necessary training to students prior to placement, and ongoing support once placed at a work experience site. 3. Administer informal and formal student assessments. 4. Contact employers and develop community-based opportunities for students to job shadow, have short-term exploratory job placements and longer-term work experiences. 5. Match student needs, skills and interests with available job placement opportunities. 6. Meet regularly with job site supervisors to insure successful work experience placements. 7. Seek to resolve problems that may arise regarding a student work experience placement. 8. Maintain a data-base of work experience sites, the type of work experience(s) available at the site, and skill requirements associated with those positions. 9. Train and provide ongoing work direction of paraprofessional job coaches. 10. Teach the required Work Seminar class prior to or in conjunction with a work experience placement. 11. Serve as a member of the IEP team for students who would benefit from or participate from or participate in secondary transition, work experience activities. 12. Provide opportunity for career exploration, job shadowing and work experiences as specified in students&#8217; IEPs. 13. Coordinate the delivery of work experience services with IEP Managers and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students. 14. Collect ongoing data as to student performance at work site, provides feedback to student, and provides data for Progress Monitoring of IEP goals related to transition work/career goals. 15. Maintain an accurate record of services provided. 16. Work with district staff on district activities, career and work experience projects. 17. Other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES): Required: 1. Current Minnesota State licensure in Teacher/Coordinator Work Experienced Handicapped 2. Working knowledge of the principles, practices and ethical standards of secondary transition and work experience; relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and applicable district policies and procedures. 3. Valid drivers license 4. Ability to pass training requirements for Type 3 School Bus annually. 5. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with community employers and work-site supervisors. 6. Ability to problem solve effectively and appropriately with students, parents, and other educational professionals regarding student concerns and problems. 7. Ability to consult with school and district personnel in developing and implementing effective work experience placements for students. 8. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. 9. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance. 10. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Microsoft Word and due process system. 11. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships. 12. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
