And More! TITLE: CONTROLLER QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting and experience in financial accounting in a school district setting. CPA designation or progress toward certification preferred. 2. Five to seven years of experience, school district experience preferred. 3. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Skyward (administrative and student software) products is preferred. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting standards (UFARS). 4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Business Services JOB GOALS: To assist in the maintaining and reporting of the district&#8217;s accounting system. To assist in the day to day operation of the district&#8217;s business office and maintain a positive culture. To maintain generally acceptable accounting standards and follow local, state and federal reporting guidelines. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Coordinate and manage internal auditing and preparation for the external annual financial audit. 2. Perform internal audits as directed by the administration and assist in special program audits as required by outside agencies. 3. Assist the Executive Director of Business Services in the development and administration of the district&#8217;s budget. Assist staff with appropriate budget codes and balances. 4. Verify and monitor Federal and State funding laws, rules and regulations that impact the budget and district policies and understand changes as they occur. 5. Responsible for understanding and overseeing all internal programs affecting the district finances, including the district&#8217;s on-line payment systems, banking systems, and procurement card software. 6. Assist in the development and training of business office staff to ensure their continued development in the area of operations in the department. 7. Collaborates with Executive Director of Business Services for Department continuous improvement. * Proactively identify areas to improve * Helps to lead and implement department changes 8. Verify and monitor all federal grant revenues and expenditures including EDRS/SERVS reporting to provide analysis and assure compliance. 9. Determine special education revenue and tuition costs. 10. Manage and maintain daily cash flow needs of the district, including the schedule of bonded indebtedness and bank reconciliation. 11. Manage and maintain the district&#8217;s external access system with Minnesota Department of Education. 12. Perform finance system maintenance, including UFARS coding changes, fiscal year-end processing, 13. Reconcile the district&#8217;s fixed asset records and prepare year end entries. 14. Assist department staff to understand budgets in respect to finance. 15. Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the business office and resolve issues. 16. Administer the purchase order process and approve purchase orders in accordance with established budgets and District policies. 17. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Business Services. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month position. Salary according to the current contract.
