Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Considerable knowledge of special education, deaf and hard-of-hearing including American Sign Language skills, and how to instruct in a bilingual environment. * Ability to communicate effectively in both English and American Sign Language. * Ability to maintain data, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work. * Ability to prepare lesson plans and organize an instructional program. * Considerable knowledge of research-based instructional methods applicable for deaf and hard-of hearing. * Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students. * Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas. * Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods. * Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation; determines goals, objectives and directions. * Monitors student&#8217;s progress in and outside special education room. * Maintains physical environment of the classroom. * Maintains contact with parents of students. * Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other surveys and forms. * Counsels individuals and groups of students with educational, occupational and personal needs. * Works with staff to coordinate adaptations, goals and objectives. * Assists in screening, evaluating and recommending placements of students. * Consults with regular classroom teachers re: curriculum and test modifications and individual evaluation of student performance. * Assesses student achievement and ability with regard to eligibility for special service programs. * Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of teaching. * Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district. Qualifications: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Education, current North Dakota Teaching License or ability to obtain, Special Education: Hearing Impaired and Deaf Education endorsement. * Demonstrated competency in meeting the range of communication needs from American Sign Language to Listening and Spoken Language. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both English and American Sign Language. * Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Demonstrated ability to interpret audiological reports, monitor and troubleshoot audiological equipment.
