School Health Assistant - St. Paul City Schools

Description: This is a part time, temporary position for the remainder of the school year. The School Health Assistant works as a team member using good judgment according to health services policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS -Provides first aid and emergency care to students and school staff -Implements federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and procedures related to school health services -Observes for student health, psychosocial and other needs, and refers students appropriately -Maintains accurate, confidential, and appropriate records following established procedures -Administers medication following established procedures -Completes documentation on students with health problems and refers students to appropriate resources as necessary -Contributes to the development and implementation of health care plans -Communicates necessary medical information in a timely manner to appropriate school personnel, parents/guardians, and the Licensed School Nurse while maintaining confidentiality -Maintains emergency procedure information for students and staff -Supports health promotion for students, staff, parents, and community -Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE -High school graduate or equivalent -Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or willing to obtain -Technology proficient (basic- email, Word, Excel, etc) About the School: St. Paul City Schools is a public PreK-12 charter school district located in the heart of St. Paul, MN.
