About Us Heilicher is located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. The school has its own wing on a larger campus shared with the Sabes Jewish Community Center. Heilicher faculty are responsible for creating a safe classroom environment that helps develop each student&#8217;s skills and promotes a growth mindset. Faculty are responsible for developing curriculum, creating lesson plans, grading, delivering classroom instruction, and communicating effectively with parents and colleagues. Duties and Responsibilities Teaching: * Create and deliver motivation physical education and fitness curriculum for grades kindergarten through eighth * Positive approach to motivation and teaching, with a focus on challenging each student based on their individual needs, goals, and abilities * Passion for team building and creative problem solving with an emphasis on safety, fairness, kindness, and respect * Knowledge of a variety of sports and games including soccer, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, kickball, ultimate frisbee, tag games, Pillow Polo, and physical fitness testing twice per year. * Work cooperatively with other teachers to support whole child development * Operate as an advocate for, and supporter of, inquiry and problem-based learning * Foster student engagement * Understands the academic, social and behavioral characteristics of lower elementary school students and middle schoolers and can create a respectful learning environment including setting and maintaining appropriate standards of student behavior * Maintain an organized classroom infrastructure and provide an orderly, productive learning environment * Provide accommodations and modifications to support the success of all students * Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data Professional Expectations: * Uphold and incorporate Heilicher school mission and core values * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Comfortable working with a variety of technology and computer applications including but not limited to Smartboard technology, iPads, Chromebooks, learning management systems, video conferencing, Google Suite, and screencast * Act as a steward of the school in the larger community * Work collaboratively with colleagues to constantly evaluate and improve mastery of instructional, culture-building, and leadership skills. * Establish and maintain a positive sense of community amongst the faculty * Participate in school-wide professional development, and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher * Attend all faculty and team meetings * Adhere to school curricular initiatives * Others as assigned by the School Administration and in line with the Minneapolis Jewish Day School Federation of Teachers Local 4997 Master Contract Required Qualifications * Bachelor&#8217;s Degree * At least three years of classroom experience * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong collaborative skills * Experience with differentiation for students of all ability levels * A growth mindset Desired Qualifications * Education Degree * Experience with curriculum course design, planning, and implementation * Independent School experience * Comfort with technology, specifically Google FTE: .90 -1.0; benefit eligible Please submit your resume and cover letter to Christine Yussen, Director of General Studies and Student Life cyussen@hmjds.org<mailto:cyussen@hmjds.org> Amos & Celia Heilicher Minneapolis Jewish Day School 4330 South Cedar Lake Road, Minneapolis, MN 55416
