Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 4 hours per day. Position will start immediately, (position is 20 hrs/week). This position is a 12 month position, which includes up to a 40 hour work week in the summer. Additional prep time will be alloted for planning summer camp. Wage: $22.25 - $24.28 per hour based on the 2019-2021 salary schedule for district paraprofessionals. Line of Supervision: Reports directly to the coordinator and manager of the school-age care program. Primary Function: To provide quality, age-appropriate school age care to middle school youth under the direction of the program coordinator. Qualifications: *One or more years of relevant work experience in education, youth program development, or similar, or school-age care and knowledge of child development; *Experience working with middle school-aged children. *Experience with special needs children. *Strong leadership skills in program development and evaluation. *Exxperience building successful teams and supervising staff. *Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, maintain, and nurture relationships. *Work effectively in a team environment, ability towork asw a team member. *Ability to adampt willingly to frequent changes in activities, priorities, and/or work schedules. *Strong verval and written communication skills applied to youth, parents, and staff. *Proficient in Word, Excel, Google Mail and Docs. *CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified. CPI preferred. Essential School Age Care Duties and Responsibilities Include: *Planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the SAC and the middle school youth program guidelines. *Maintain, monitor and expand the youth development programming. Examples are: the service learning program, the youth advisory council, the high school mentoring program, the academic study program, and the character development programs. *Write, implement, post and supervise daily lesson plans. *Guide children&#8217;s behavior in a consistent, positive style. *Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems and disruptive situations. *Oversee and maintain daily schedules, rosters, and accurate counts of children. *Maintain student files and document behavior when appropriate. *Design and maintain a supportive, safe environment. *Direct, supervise, and manage paraprofessional staff through observation, and coaching. *Conduct regular staff meetings. *Create a positive work environment. *Observe the program in action for: quality, program improvement needs, staff observation. *Works to successfully integrate volunteers into the staff at the site. *Communicate on a regular basis with parents/guardians and school district staff. *Create monthly newsletters, promotional materials. *Supervise and monitor students at all times; supervise indoor and outdoor play, participate and intervene as necessary. *Implement emergency drills and procedures when needed, including performance of CPR. *Must be available to work non-school days. Non-school day programming includes participation and supervision during off-site field trips. *Act as a liaison to maintain positive relationships with community sponsors and partners. *Write annual end of the year progress reports to program sponsors. *Utilize school district and community media resources for program promotion. *Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Physical Requirements: Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with students, stooping, bending and kneeling. Presenting information to students and lifting up to 40 pounds. *Frequent: standing, walking, ability to walk two miles on uneven terrain, lifting waist to chest, lifting below waist, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting/pivot, reaching, simple grasp, firm grasp, fine manipulation, feeling, talking, hearing & visual accommodation. *Occasional: sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, and exposure to weather when supervising children during outdoor play time. Ability to accompany children in the water on swimming field trips. *When required or mandated, wearing a face mask.
