Position Summary This position is responsible for assisting in the coordination of youth enrichment programming activities within the Community Education Department. It includes planning, implementing and evaluating various youth enrichment programs and instructors. Responsibilities include: communications, internal and external marketing, part time employee and volunteer management, data collection, community collaborations and sustainability efforts. Program responsibilities include a balance of youth enrichment programs and community impact programs, as well as, direct and indirect programming responsibilities. Reporting Relationships This position reports to the Community Education Program Manager and will work cooperatively within the Community Education department, cross departmentally within Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and with community partners. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * An associate's degree or two years of post-secondary coursework (60 semester or 90 quarter credits) in education, community education, recreation, social services or a related field and two years of experience coordinating youth and family programs, including work with diverse populations and community involvement.(Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered.) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Considerable knowledge of computer software to develop promotional materials, budgets, maintain website, data bases, and the aptitude to learn new software. * Excellent customer service skills, including ability to proactively serve customers, seek out answers and tackle challenges. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to self-start, envision and implement a project from start to finish. * Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines and evaluate ways of work to create efficient systems. * Ability to assist in recruiting, training and providing work direction to staff. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team and with a diverse group of customers, including: parents, youth, clerical staff, teachers, custodial staff, cafeteria staff, instructors, administrators and collaborative partners. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications * BA Degree in education, recreation, human services or a related degree. * Experience working directly with youth in an enrichment program setting. * Experience developing and implementing youth programs and curriculum. * Experience collaborating with community members. * Experience working in cross-agency collaborations and forming new partnerships. * Understanding of Community Education&#8217;s divisions, programs and the services provided to the public. * Experience managing part time staff and/or volunteers * Demonstrated success in providing youth-driven programming * Multilingual Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties: * Provide excellent customer service to all customers. * Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating diverse program opportunities that meet the needs and wants of the community (including daytime, evening, and weekend programs). * Research, evaluate and assist with the implementation of innovative practices in program development and delivery. * Work with school administration and community members to meet program needs. * Work with the Community Education Program Manager, peers and staff to ensure safe, quality programming and continual improvement. * Assist with implementation of special events. * Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating the work of part time instructors, site staff, volunteers and interns. * Perform administrative functions related to payroll, vendor payments and contracts, reports, marketing and registration. * Set agendas and facilitate meetings. * Provide tools and training for staff, in the areas of: youth development, curriculum connections, service learning, youth voice, family and community outreach, etc. * Develop program communication: marketing tools, promotional materials, website and related communications; work with the media to promote programs and to garner community support for programs. * Present program information to district and community stakeholders. * Attend staff meetings, other meetings as assigned, district-wide opportunities and participate as appropriate in staff development training activities. * Contribute to the District's Strategic Plan by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule This is a 12 month position working 40 hours per week. Hours include evenings and weekends. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the SCSP Union negotiated labor agreement.
