Supervisory Paraprofessional to support Camp Royal summer program
Salary/Hourly Rate: Paraprofessional Class V: $17.33 or above depending on experience
Hours of work:
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Monday - Thursday, June 6 - August 11
Qualifications:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills, abilities and personal characteristics: an understanding of and ability to work effectively with high school age students; appreciation of diversity and the desire to work effectively with a diverse student and community population; the ability to be assertive in situations needing behavioral improvement; excellent human relations skills; willingness and ability to supervise students in all areas of the high school building. Prior experience with student supervision at the high school level is preferred. The successful candidate will carry out the duties of Supervisory Paraprofessional under the direction of the Administrative staff. High School Diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years previous experience working with students required.
Job Summary:
The Supervisory Paraprofessional is responsible for student supervision in the building, and school grounds; for supporting and enforcing rules and regulations; for establishing and maintaining strong, positive working relationships with students, and for contributing to a positive educational climate for students.
Will also provide students with instructional support, mostly in the areas of language arts and mathematics, and assist the teacher to assure students have learning and behavioral support in the classroom. Duties may include instructing small groups of students under the guidance of the classroom teacher, working with individual students one-on-one, helping with classroom transitions, and supervising. Must commit to one training prior to program start date.
