Job Title: School Counselor -Long Term Sub August-November
About PiM Arts High School:
PiM Arts High School is a tuition-free, public charter high school open to all students in grades 9 through 12 in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Since 2004, our rigorous performing arts and academic curriculum has provided a rewarding environment for student artists to grow.
Students are engaged each day in classes that challenge them to expand their academic achievement and their artistry. PiM Arts High School offers classes in Vocal and Instrumental Music, Theatre, Dance, Musical Theatre, Visual Arts and Media Arts with arts endorsement options in each area. PiM Arts High School has advanced level classes in all academic areas, with additional electives offered. Our program meets and exceeds all state mandates in academic provisions, while also providing artistic rigor with the fullest performance calendar of any four-year performing arts high school in the Twin Cities.
Qualifications:
BS or BA degree required; MA preferred.
Demonstrated preparation, skill and commitment to providing for the learning needs of all students
Skill in using positive, constructive counseling approaches
Skilled in utilizing best SEL practices and ability to train staff
Ability to effectively work with students in crisis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Clear understanding of issues facing today’s high school student
Skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents
Self directed worker with strong customer service approach
Collaborative
Responsibilities:
Guide students academically and emotionally through the high school experience
Collaborate with other school counselor
Provide SEL training and support for staff
Monitor student academic progress, work with students to track to graduation
Assist with student scheduling
Coordinate PSEO and other alternative educational programs.
Conduct individual/group counseling sessions to assist students with problems or concerns
Assist with the coordination of Ramp-up to Readiness for all students
Coordinate counseling approach for PiM, working with outside providers to maintain communication across administrative areas
Serve as homeless and foster liaison
Review accuracy in student records
Host new student workshops, assist with student registration
Additional duties as assigned
