Job Title: Entry-Level IT Support Technician
Position Type: Part-Time / Hourly
Compensation: Starting rate of $18-$20/hr or higher based on experience
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Entry-Level IT Support Technician provides first-line technical support for staff and students in a school environment. This role ensures that technology resources—including computers, tablets, classroom devices, and software applications—are functional and accessible to support teaching and learning. The technician works under the supervision of the Technology Director and assists in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing technology systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide on-site technical assistance for staff and students with hardware, software, and network issues.
Set up, configure, and maintain classroom technology (computers, tablets, smartboards, etc.).
Support student device management, including distribution, collection, and basic troubleshooting.
Assist with maintaining inventory of technology equipment and supplies.
Perform routine maintenance and updates on school devices and systems.
Collaborate with the Technology Director to implement technology initiatives and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Provide basic training or guidance to staff and students on using technology tools effectively and safely.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in Information Technology or related field preferred.
Strong interest in technology and eagerness to learn IT systems and processes.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, ChromeOS, iOS), and common software applications (Google Workspace).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow troubleshooting steps.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with patience to support users of varying technical skill levels.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and maintain a student-centered approach.
PREFERRED SKILLS (NOT REQUIRED)
Experience working in an educational setting.
Familiarity with classroom technology such as Newline boards or student information systems.
Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
