Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Agriculture & CTE Teacher to lead and expand our 7-12 agriculture and technical education program. This position will include teaching a variety of agriculture and CTE courses (Personal Finance, Accounting, Careers, Study Skills), supporting FFA activities, and maintaining the school''s greenhouse and garden. The ideal candidate will bring industry knowledge and a passion for helping students develop career-ready skills in areas such as woodworking, construction, and welding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with Minnesota state standards in agriculture and CTE subjects.
- Teach a range of courses, including Introduction to Agriculture, Animal Science, Plant Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Mechanics, and other CTE areas such as woodworking, construction, and welding.
- Provide engaging, project-based instruction that incorporates industry-relevant skills and technologies.
- Manage and oversee the school''s greenhouse and garden, integrating them into instructional activities.
- Support and expand the FFA program, including leadership development, competitions, and community outreach.
- Guide students in supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs) and career exploration opportunities.
- Collaborate with local businesses, industry professionals, and community organizations to enhance student learning and create work-based learning opportunities.
- Support students in developing career plans and exploring post-secondary education, apprenticeships, and workforce opportunities.
- Participate in professional development and stay current with trends and advancements in agriculture and CTE fields.
- Engage in school and district initiatives to support student achievement and align with the strategic plan.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to foster student success.
Qualifications:
- Required: Minnesota teaching license in Agriculture Education or Career and Technical Education (or ability to obtain licensure).
- Preferred: Experience in agricultural education, CTE instruction, FFA leadership, or related industry experience.
- Strong ability to develop hands-on, career-focused learning experiences.
- Passion for engaging students in real-world applications of agriculture, trades, and technical skills.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills.
- Preferred: Ability to teach College in Schools (CIS) or willingness to obtain CIS credentials.
